Air Defense Enhanced Early Warning System Operator
Duty Descriptions

14H Operations Sergeant (GMD)
Serves as NCOIC of a Missile Defense Element (MDE) Crew as a Future Operations Officer operating with equipment systems that guard against aerial and space attacks; coordinates directly with USNORTHCOM and USSTRATCOM for intelligence assessments; conducts battle analysis using the Ground Based Mid-Course Defense (GMD) System; validates GMD execution plans and makes recommendations for changes in GMD System postures to the MDE Director to enhance combat effectiveness and overall mission success of defending the United States and its allies against strategic ballistic missile threats.


Senior Early Warning Systems Operator
Serves as the Senior Early Warning Systems Operator for the Air Defense Airspace Management (ADAM) Cell for 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) consisting of six Battalions and one separate Company; reallocates SWT and AWT assets in support of combat maneuver elements throughout the Area of Operation; coordinates lift asset flights throughout the Brigade's Area of Operations; conducts A2C2 operations in direct support of the Brigade's mission; maintains the TAIS 10.0, JRE, and MIDS LVT-2 Radio systems worth 1.3 million dollars; responsible for the morale, health, and welfare of one Soldier


Senior Early Warning System and Communications Equipment Operator
Serves as the Battalion's Senior Early Warning System and Communications Equipment Operator for the Air and Missile Defense Element responsible for the operations, maintenance and training of the PATRIOT Battalion Tactical Control Station (TCS) and four automated Battery Command Posts (BCP); integrates the TCS and the PATRIOT ICC to provide Air Situational Awareness and Air Defense planning functions to brigade, battalion and four battery CP's for both Tactical Ballistic Missiles (TBM) and Air Breathing Threats (ABT)


Squad Leader in a Patriot Firing Battery
Serves as Squad Leader in a Patriot Firing Battery organic to the Air Defense Artillery Brigade with a worldwide contingency mission in support of the 32D Army and Air Defense Command (AAMDC); responsible for the morale, health, welfare, and the professional development of (number) assigned Soldiers, including (number) Noncommissioned Officers and their Families; supervises individual, team, and squad level training; assists the Platoon Sergeant in planning and supervising all activities that the squad is assigned in order to accomplish the mission.


AN/TPY-2 FBM Operations Sergeant
Serves as Operation Sergeant for the 12th Missile Defense Battery's Sensor Management Cell (SMC) in support of the 32d AAMDC's forward mission; responsible for the Forward Based AN/TPY-2 operations into the USCENTCOM Joint Integrated Air Missile Defense (JIAMD) Operational Environment; incorporates current Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) threats to successfully employ the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) system to defeat BMD threats within the USCENTCOM Area of Operations(AO); maintains current system and communication status of JIAMD assets within the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility.


MOS 14H Missile Watch NCOIC
Serves as the Missile Watch NCOIC in the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (USASMDC/ARSTRAT) Operations Center (OC); monitors, assesses, and maintains 24/7 situational awareness for over 800 deployed and forward stationed space and missile defense forces in 37 locations across four geographic combatant commands with six strategic satellite control facilities; guides, directs, and coordinates mission execution to subordinate commands and directorates.



14H Joint Tactical Ground Station Operator (JTAGS)

Joint Tactical Ground Station Operator for Army Space and Missile Defense Command; conducts data analysis of direct down-linked data from space-based Sensors and various other intelligence sources in order to disseminate warning, alerting and cueing information to area Combatant Commanders, for airborne threats from tactical ballistic missiles and other events of interest originating from, passing through, and threatening to impact in their Area of Responsibility.

Operates desktop computers, laptop computers, Printer/copier machines, and telephones daily. Proficient in MS Office to include: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Publisher. Creates spreadsheets, reports, summaries, and correspondence for various agencies.

Interprets and implements SOPs, manuals, and other guidance from higher in order to insure efficient and proper operations.

Supervises 3 employees on a daily basis; providing technical guidance, training, and leadership to include monthly performance evaluations, and assistance in financial, personal, and professional issues.

Provides physical training leadership and supervision for 3-9 individuals daily.

Performs operations and intelligence duties.

Supervises and participates in unit level training for crew certification programs and Air Defense exercises. Collects, reviews, evaluates tactical electronic intelligence data for force/engagement operations in a joint service network and provides recommendations.

Performs data connectivity between air defense communications equipment including: connectivity to local and wide area networks, end-to-end telecommunications, and Video Teleconferencing equipment.

Tracks daily maintenance and repair of equipment.
