MOS 21 Engineering






21B - Combat Engineer

Team Leader

o volunteered to troubleshoot the unit's Blue Force Tracker system on his down time, brought unit to a 100% readiness level before scheduled STX lanes training

o volunteered and built the memorial stand for the Main-Post Chapel

o provided fail-safe electrical support and generator backup to Gen XXX chain of command ceremony; participation was key to success

o supervised 5 Soldiers in the installation of electrical systems for five K-Spans, making them habitable for the first time

21T - Technical Engineering Specialist

Technical Engineer NCO

SGT Pearson's technical knowledge was instrumental in the design supervision of five major construction missions worth $1.3 million during a four month period that accounted for 7,500 hours of work. He was an invaluable asset while serving as a quality assurance representative of the detachment directly responsible for ensuring slump test requirement standards were met for all vertical projects assigned.

While serving in the 156th Engineer Detachment for the 94th Engineer Battalion, SGT Pearson served as the quality assurance and quality control NCO conducting inspections of horizontal and vertical construction design projects assigned to the 94th Engineer Battalion. He provided weekly guidance and feedback on all projects to the detachment officer to ensure that all state, post, and environmental laws and regulations were adhered to during construction and that the construction site was safe for personnel.

o surveyed Q36 Reference Points for Camp Falcon and FOB Prosperity Declination Stations, prepared 10th Mountain Div and 2/3 FA Units for success

o poured 78 cubic feet of concrete while ensuring seamless electric and plumbing cutover, renewed main gate entry

o provided exceptional runway repairs critical to over 1,00 takeoffs and landings of the C-130s and numerous civilian aircraft assigned

o placed and secured 178 security barriers, increased security for over 10,000 Soldiers and allowed relaxed security posture inside compound

o assisted EOD with self-help project; moved 20 tons of earth and concrete, ensured on-schedule continuation of draw down

o engineered provisional runway which allowed initial air delivery of critical supplies and fuel

o repaired over 500 square feet of damaged airfield pavement



21W - Carpentry and Masonry Specialist

o constructed 2 burnout latrines

o built 4 two-story guard towers which immediately improved security

o assisted with the build of 6 super tent pads

o laid out and built 2 DFAC pads, ready 30 days ahead of schedule

o volunteered for and assisted in DFAC duties, ensured all 120th Engineer Battalion soldiers received meals first

o established and conducted physical fitness training every morning to help soldiers meet height and weight standards and improve APFT scores
