Reckless Driving Counseling

Purpose of Counseling

Event-Oriented
-Speeding Ticket

The reason for this counseling is that you were observed speeding on Plank road and ticketed by Military Police driving 85 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Charges for speeding over 80 mph in the state of North Carolina can carry a reckless driving charge.

Aside from speeding and aggressive driving being against both post and civilian regulations, speeding and reckless driving are dangerous. Traffic accidents are the number one cause of death and injury among military personnel. The cause of most traffic accidents is speeding and reckless driving. Driving is a dangerous activity that we do every day and there is always a risk when we get behind the wheel.

Driving is a privilege not a right. Reckless driving or speeding could result in losing your on post driving privileges or your drivers license.

Losing your driving privileges or license will not excuse you from your duties.

You are being recommended to the Command for administrative action.

This counseling statement has been furnished to you, not as a punitive measure under the provisions of Article 15, UCMJ, but as an administrative measure to stress that continued behavior of the same or similar nature may result in initiation of action separating you from the U.S. Army for Misconduct or Minor Disciplinary Infractions under the provisions of Chapter (5) (8) (11) (13) (14), AR 635-200. Such action may result in the issuance of an Honorable Discharge, General Discharge, or an Other Than Honorable (OTH) Discharge. If you receive a General or an OTH Discharge, this could result in the possible loss of some or all Veterans Benefits and substantial prejudice in obtaining civilian employment. In addition, if you have contributed money to the Montgomery G.I. Bill and you are released from active duty with a less than Honorable Discharge, you will not be eligible to receive money for educational purposes and any money already contributed for educational purposes is nonrefundable and may be forfeited.

- SM is being recommended for administrative action.

- SM will inform FLS of date/time of his required court appearance.
