Monthly Soldier Counseling Example

DUTY PERFORMANCE: PFC B, your duty performance for the month of October was to standards. You continue to complete all tasks, but make an effort to improve your work with little or no supervision. You have completed all optics services scheduled for Bravo and Echo company for the month of October with no delay.

APPEARANCE: PFC B, over the past month you met the standards when it comes to your uniform and appearance and you complied with AR 670-1. Continue to maintain a good appearance for yourself and set the example for your peers to follow.

PHYSICAL FITNESS: PFC B, you are currently doing air assault PT. You need to continue and push yourself harder and you are very close to being flagged for being overweight. I recommend you to start doing PT during your personal time. Once you can prove to us that you are ready for air assault school we will send you. Do not forget that you need to prepare yourself and make sure you pass the upcoming APFT and meet AR 600-9.

ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY: PFC B, this month I have not had an issue with you reporting to formations and work on time. Continue to do a good job and remember to always be at the right place at the right time in the right uniform. If you are ever running late, please notify your chain of command.

SELF-DEVELOPMENT: PFC B, you need to make progress on increasing your correspondence courses. I want you to complete at least 25 correspondence course hours every month. I will check your ERB monthly. I also encourage you to look into college and use your Tuition Assistance. Take advantage of the TA. Civilian education is also very important in your Army career to progress. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask me for guidance.

PROMOTION: PFC B, you need to start looking at your next rank. If you want to be promoted, you need to start taking initiative and always be proactive in any situation that may come your way. In the future, keep in mind that you may want to prepare yourself for Soldier of the Month board. I will help you study and take the next step.

PERSONAL ISSUES: PFC B, Don't hesitate to come to me with any issues you may have. My door is always open and I will do my best to help you in any way I can. If I can't help you, I will point you in the right direction and ensure you get the help you need.
