Civil Reconnaissance Sergeant
Duty Descriptions

CR Sergeant
Serves as a member of a Civil Affairs unit that executes Civil Affairs missions in support of national security objectives; conducts civil network engagement, civil information evaluation, support to civil administration, and transitional military authority to enable situational understanding, targeting, information operations, freedom of maneuver, and stability in order to shape the operational environment; creates effects in the civil component, consolidates gains, maintains operating tempo, and preserves combat power.




Civil Reconnaissance Sergeant
Provides reconnaissance, infrastructure assessment, language, and regional expertise as part of a Civil Affairs Team; conducts civil reconnaissance, performs civil engagements, assists in civil network development and engagement, and supports Transitional Governance; integrates with supported organizations to identify requirements for Civil Affairs Operations and Civil Military Operations that enables supported commanders the ability to preserve combat power.




MOS 38R - Civil Reconnaissance Sergeant

Major Duties. The Civil Reconnaissance Sergeant serves as a member of a Civil Affairs unit that executes Civil Affairs missions in support of national security objectives; conducts civil network engagement, civil information evaluation, support to civil administration, and transitional military authority to enable situational understanding, targeting, information operations, freedom of maneuver, and stability in order to shape the operational environment, create effects in the civil component, consolidate gains, maintain operating tempo, and preserve combat power. Duties of MOS 38R at each level of skill are:

MOSC 38R10. (Personnel Only). MOS used to identify Soldiers accessed into MOS 38R prior to obtaining grade SSG.

MOSC 38R20. (Personnel Only). MOS used to identify Soldiers accessed into MOS 38R prior to obtaining grade SSG.

MOSC 38R30. Provides reconnaissance, infrastructure assessment, language, and regional expertise as part of a Civil Affairs Team; conducts civil reconnaissance, performs civil engagements, assists in civil network development and engagement, and supports Transitional Governance; integrates with supported organizations to identify requirements for Civil Affairs Operations and Civil Military Operations that enables supported commanders the ability to preserve combat power while consolidating gains across the competition continuum.
