Medical Equipment Repair Sergeant (68A20)
Serves as the Medical Equipment Repair NCO, responsible for the health, welfare, professional development and the accountability of three junior Equipment Maintenance Branch Soldiers; coordinates acceptance technical inspections and/or performs periodic scheduled and unscheduled installations, modifications, preventive maintenance on medical equipment valued in excess of $168 million in support of a 172 bed medical center with 22,000 beneficiaries, 22 satellite medical and dental clinics, and all TO&E medical assets on Fort Bragg; ensured compliance with shop polices and safety regulations.


Biomedical Equipment Sergeant
Serves as the Biomedical Equipment Sergeant for a deployed Brigade Medical Supply Office in support of OEF XII; provides medical maintenace support to over 23 dispersed medical units on six Forward Operating Bases; responsible for servicing and maintaining all medical equipment both scheduled and unscheduled throughout the 3BCT AOR; responsible for organizing maintenance, workflow, efficiency, troubleshooting, repairing and inspections of more than 600 pieces of medical equipment; ensures the maintenance and accountability of medical equipment valued over $1,000,000, directly responsible for one Soldier.


Biomedical Equipment Specialist
Schedules and perform PMCS on medical equipment; performs electrical safety inspection tests, calibrations, and certification services with USAMMA during Annual calibrations; replaces unserviceable components, modules, and assemblies as authorized by the Maintenance Allocation Charts; maintains a technical library for medical equipment; performs technical inspections of new or transferred medical equipment in accordance with AR 40-61; maintains required manual equipment files; inspects, verifies serviceability, and reports items rendered unserviceable to command.


MOS 68A - Biomedical Equipment Specialist

Major Duties. The biomedical equipment specialist performs maintenance services and repairs on all medical equipment, medical systems, medically related equipment and medically related systems.

MOSC 68A10. Performs Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), Calibration, Verification, Certification (CVC), and electrical safety tests on medical and medically related equipment; maintains networked medical equipment; troubleshoots and isolates malfunctioning or defective parts or boards on medical and medically related equipment; effects repairs by replacing malfunctioning or defective parts or boards on medically related equipment; computes power requirements for field medical equipment; performs acceptance inspections and installation of medical equipment; conducts In-Service PMCS training programs for medical equipment operators.

MOSC 68A20. Supervises and performs as a senior team member; performs duties shown in preceding skill levels and provides guidance to subordinate Soldiers; establishes and maintains procedures for an effective preventive maintenance program; performs quality control and acceptance inspections on medical equipment and medically related equipment; rebuilds and overhauls medical equipment and medical systems; performs quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on medical equipment and medically related equipment; administrates networked medical equipment; provides medical maintenance advice to units not authorized 68A3O/4O/5O personnel; contributes to the development of medical maintenance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Commanders Maintenance Directive; supervises, advises, and assists in the training of subordinate personnel and may serve as Team Leader for maintenance operations.

MOSC 68A30. Performs duties shown in preceding skill levels and provides guidance to subordinate Soldiers; troubleshoots and effects repairs by replacing malfunctioning or defective discrete electronic components and boards on 3 phase radiological systems, lasers, and other complex integrated medical and medically related systems; maintains, administrates and protects networked medical equipment; performs quality control and acceptance functions at all levels of medical maintenance to include depot; performs quality control functions relevant to the performance of medical maintenance operations; provides recommendations regarding the purchase of medical equipment, medical systems, medically related equipment and systems; participates in the planning of power and space requirements for the installation of medical equipment and medical systems and installs units to manufacturer's specifications; performs duties as Contracting Officer Representative and supervises contract equipment installations and performs acceptance inspections and ensures contract compliance; develops medical maintenance SOPs; trains subordinate maintenance personnel; prepares and conducts In-Service PMCS training programs for medical equipment operators; advises commanders and senior personnel on medical equipment and basic medical maintenance operations in Company, Battalion, or Divisional units and small or medium health readiness platforms; improves performance of medical maintenance operations continuously by establishing and implementing processes into daily activities to minimize deviation.

MOSC 68A40. Performs duties shown in preceding skill levels and provides guidance to subordinate Soldiers; supervises medical maintenance operations at the company or battalion level and small and medium health readiness platforms; oversees technical and administrative training to subordinate Military, Civilian, and Contracted personnel to include networked medical and medically related equipment; supervises quality assurance and quality control functions relevant to the performance of medical maintenance operations; supervises the requisitioning and stocking of maintenance repair parts and supplies; organizes and supervises Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAITs); reviews installation and acceptance procedures for all types of medical equipment and medical systems; advises and assists in administrative, fiscal, personnel, Medical Care Support Equipment (MEDCASE) or Capital Expenditure Equipment Program (CEEP) and supply matters; advises procurement personnel of functional and safety aspects of medical equipment and medical systems; advises commanders and senior personnel of Company, Battalion, or Divisional units and small and medium health readiness platforms on patient safety concerns, capabilities for providing maintenance and associated logistic assistance, and instructions to organic, attached, and supported units to include requirements for utilities and advantages and disadvantages of contract versus in-house maintenance.

MOSC 68A50. Performs duties shown in preceding skill levels and provides guidance to subordinate Soldiers; supervises medical maintenance operations at the echelon above brigade and large health readiness platforms; writes, develops, and coordinates command-wide regulations and policies relating to Army Medical Department Logistical Material Maintenance Programs; serves as the subject matter expert on medical equipment and maintenance operations to commanders and senior personnel of Brigade, Corps, and echelons above corps units and large health readiness platforms.
