For outstanding achievement while serving as Primary EOD Diver for 7th Engineer Dive Detachment, Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii from December 2015 to February 2016. Staff Sergeant Hirst's attention to detail and selfless devotion to duty enhanced foreign relations and the completion of UUV and Seabotix training in the Philippines with the Naval Special Operation Group. While participating in the Western Pacific Naval Symposium, Sergeant Hirst was a vital asset in conducting UUV post mission analysis which contributed to the successful identification of multiple mine shapes throughout the area of operation. During Exercise Dugong, Sergeant Hirst worked as the primary diver for the testing and evaluation of the DNS-300 handheld sonar as well as the testing and revision of U.S. Army diving SOPs on the Rockfish mine detection system.
