PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS GAUGE CALIBRATION CUSTODIAN, ORDNANCE CRANE OPERATOR, AND ORDNANCE FORKLIFT OPERATOR, NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER PORT HUENEME DIVISION, DETACHMENT WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, NEW MEXICO FROM JULY 2020 TO FEBRUARY 2023. PETTY OFFICER OLAF'S DEVOTION TO DUTY AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE WAS A KEY FACTOR IN HIS DIVISION EXCEEDING ALL PRODUCTION GOALS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2021 AND 2022 AT THE MISSILE ASSEMBLY FACILITY AND NASA. IN ADDITION, HE LED HIS WORK CENTER IN THE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF 49 SM-2 BLK-IV MISSILES, THE LOAD OUT OF TWO MK-70 TERRIER AND TWO BLACK BRANT MK4 ROCKET MOTORS, AND THE UNPACKING, INSPECTION, AND REPACKAGING OF THREE EXPERIMENTAL MK-68 LAND MINES FOR TESTING OF THE CLANDESTINE DELIVERED MINE (CDM) EQT MISSION. PETTY OFFICER OLAF'S PERSONAL INITIATIVE AND UNSWERVING DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




TECHNICAL SERGEANT HAROLD B. LICHENSTEIN DISTINGUISHED HIMSELF BY OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AS CIVIL ENGINEER CRANE OPERATOR, 768TH EXPEDITIONARY AIR BASE SQUADRON, 409TH AIR EXPEDITIONARY GROUP, 435TH AIR EXPEDITIONARY WING, NIAMEY, NIGER, FROM 12 JUNE 2022 TO 21 SEPTEMBER 2022. DURING THIS PERIOD, SERGEANT LICHENSTEIN SERVED AS AIR BASE 101'S SOLE HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR, EXPERTLY REMOVING MORE THAN 150 CUBIC YARDS OF DEBRIS FOR NIGER ARMED FORCES (FAN) AND SECURITY FORCES, IMPROVING FORCE PROTECTION CONDITIONS AND LINE OF SIGHT BY FIFTY PERCENT WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY ENHANCING HOST NATION RELATIONS. AS A SKILLED CRANE OPERATOR, HE ASSISTED WITH THE REMOVAL OF FIVE 10,000 LITER WATER TANKS AND THE INSTALLATION OF FIVE ADDITIONAL WATER TANKS, INCREASING THEIR CAPACITY BY SIXTY THOUSAND LITERS AND IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR AN EXPECTED INCREASE OF 55 PERSONNEL. ADDITIONALLY, SERGEANT LICHENSTEIN LED THE WAY ON THREE TAXI WAY REPAIR PROJECTS FOR THE JOINT INTELLIGENCE SURVEILLANCE RECONNAISSANCE MISSION, IMPROVING THE TRANSITION BETWEEN TWO UNEVEN SURFACES BETWEEN THE HANGER AND THE TAXI WAY, AND PREVENTING POTENTIAL DAMAGE TO MQ-9 REAPERS. THE DISTINCTIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF TECHNICAL SERGEANT LICHENSTEIN REFLECT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF, THE 768TH EXPEDITIONARY AIR BASE SQUADRON AND THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE.
