CORPORAL KOERPER DISPLAYED INITIATIVE AND DRIVE ABOVE AND BEYOND THE EXPECTATIONS OF HIS SUPERIORS. UNPROMPTED, HE UPDATED BATTALION LANDING TEAM 2/5'S TACTICAL RECOVERY OF AIRCRAFT AND PERSONNEL STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES AND INTEGRATED THE WOLFHOUND SUITE, STREAMLINING AND EXPANDING CAPABILITIES BY 50%. HE CONDUCTED SEVEN CAPABILITY BRIEFS AND COORDINATED WITH DETACHMENT STAFF TO TEACH FOUR OPERATIONAL CLASSES. USING HIS LINGUISTIC TRAINING, HE TRANSLATED FOR U.S. AND KOREAN MILITARY OFFICERS AND POSITIVELY IMPACTED KOREAN SHIP MOVEMENT BETWEEN OPERATIONAL BOXES DURING SSANG YONG 2014 AND FLIGHT OPERATIONS DURING SEARCH AND RESCUE EFFORTS FOR THE FERRY SEWOL. IN ADDITION, HE INVENTORIED, EVALUATED, AND DISPOSED OF 70 ITEMS ENABLING INCREASED SECURITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY OF DETACHMENT EQUIPMENT. CORPORAL KOERPER'S INITIATIVE, PERSEVERANCE, AND TOTAL DEDICATION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE MARINE CORPS AND THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
Staff Sergeant Murray A. Olson distinguished herself in the performance of outstanding service to the United States as a DCGS Cryptologic Linguist and Distributed Mission Supervisor, 94th Intelligence Squadron, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. During this period, the professional skill, leadership, and ceaseless efforts of Staff Sergeant Olson contributed to the effective transition of crew operations from 12- to 24-hour operations. The singularly distinguished accomplishments of Staff Sergeant Olson reflect great credit upon herself, the 94th Intelligence Squadron and the United States Army.
During this period, the outstanding professional skill, leadership and tireless efforts of Chief Sullivan resulted in major contributions to the effectiveness and success of the Utah Army National Guard and United States Army missions. While a member of the Utah Army National Guard, Chief Sullivan deployed 9 times as an airborne cryptologic linguist to eight countries, providing linguistic and data analysis crucial to national security and the elimination of potential terrorist threats. As First Sergeant, Chief Sullivan deployed to Karshi-Kanabad to oversee 60 Soldiers, ensuring the successful completion of 20 missions and ensuring the safe return of all deployed personnel.
