SGT Garcia's utmost dedication as the Air Traffic Control Equipment Repair Team Leader ensured the company was always mission ready over 3 JRTC rotations, JOAX's, VALEX's and 3 aerial gunneries without incident or degradation of capabilities. His responsibility and positive influence were instrumental in leading 9 Troopers to overall Readiness Level 1 in all systems and being accountable for over $50,000 worth of equipment. His subject matter expertise and steadfast devotion resulted in 2 successful FORSCOM ARMS inspections.




SPC(P) Shields served Fox Company, 3-82ND General Support Aviation Battalion commendably as the Air Traffic Control Maintenance Supervisor. He tirelessly spearheaded the training of three Troopers, enabling them to obtain their maintenance certifications on four different Tactical ATC systems. He signed for the Company's COMSEC equipment valued at over $750,000 with 100 percent monthly accountability. SPC Shields recently graduated from the NCO Basic Leader Course achieving the prestigious Commandant's List.




SPC Parker served F Company, 3-82 General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB), 82ND Combat Aviation Brigade commendably as the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Maintenance Chief. His workload, oversight and duties performed were that of two grades above his own. As the ATC Maintenance Chief, SPC Parker was key to the success of the organization as he maintained two Air Traffic Services Systems and all associated equipment.

SPC Parker was assigned as the Battalion's ATC Maintenance Examiner. He spearheaded the Maintenance Certification Program with enthusiasm, preparing maintainers to achieve maximum results on 10 certification exams with a 100% pass rate. His expertise raised the Readiness Levels of five Soldiers and all maintenance operations within Fox Company. His knowledge and professionalism allowed for seamless operations of the Company's ATC Maintenance program. COMSEC with a 98 percent readiness rating during three Joint Readiness Training Center rotations.

SPC Parker went above and beyond his normal scope of work by earning his certifications in both Precision Approach Radar (PAR) and Digital Audio Legal Recorder fixed base equipment. His dedication to ATC maintenance was greatly appreciated by Department of Defense (DOD) civilian counterparts. SPC Parker, with his fixed base certifications, has been recommended to assist with fixed base operations in the event of low manning.

FOR EXCEPTIONALLY MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE ASSIGNED AS AN AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL MAINTAINER. SPC PARKER'S OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE, PROFESSIONALISM, AND COMMITMENT TO MISSION ACCOMPLISHMENT CONTRIBUTED SIGNIFICANTLY TO THE UNIT'S OVERALL SUCCESS. HIS ACTIONS ARE IN KEEPING WITH THE FINEST TRADITIONS OF MILITARY SERVICE AND REFLECT GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF, 3-82ND GSAB, 82ND COMBAT AVIATION BRIGADE, 82ND AIRBORNE DIVISION AND THE UNITED STATES ARMY.




Specialist Cox ensured that the AN/TSQ-198A was fully mission capable prior to and after moving to the field and ensured that all vehicles moving out for a quartering party had radios installed and were set up properly, to include communications checks.

Specialist Cox went with the TTCS on a special mission to Longhorn tower site to maintain and ensure proper functioning of the TTCS. Specialist Cox ensured that the AN/TSQ-198A had 0 hours of downtime.

Specialist Cox volunteered to stay behind after the rest of the batallion redeployed from TAA Alabama to ensure the proper function of the TCS.

Specialist Cox always demonstrated commitment and dedication to any task he is given. He performs these tasks in a quick and professional manner and is a credit to Company F, 1st Battalion, 189th Aviation Regiment.




Sergeant Meenah assisted in the movement of the quartering party from the FOB to the Logistics Support Area and the Longhorn Tower site. During this movement he responded to and repaired multiple comm failures between vehicles and ensured cohesive command and control throughout the movement. Within hours of arrival, Sergeant Meenah repaired the TTCS and restored operations. It continues to operate with zero errors until now. Sergeant Meenah's performance reflects great credit upon himself, the 189th Aviation Regiment and the United States Army.
