Meritorious service while on temporary duty and serving as Radar Specialist at MacDill Air Force Base from 16 August 2021 to 22 November 2021. During this period, Sergeant Facsimile led a diverse group of Soldiers and Airmen spanning seven geographically separated units. His team ensured the successful command and control of over 1.2 million square miles of air space supporting the Army's Central Command area of responsibility. In addition, his team combined three joint radar systems, producing the first ever unmanned aerial system detection capability that successfully identified 16 enemy aerial vehicles and redirected 23 defensive counter air aircraft. Finally, he expanded radar coverage by integrating an additional 22 radar feeds into an aggregate, nearly doubling the monitored air space and ensuring air superiority of over 2.3 million square miles and protecting 23 thousand American and coalition troops. Sergeant Facsimile's extraordinary efforts and accomplishments during this period reflect credit upon himself, the 319th Field Artillery Regiment and the United States Army.
94M Radar Repairer
CPL Young served as 94M Radar Repairer while serving on a combat deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom: Sparta Shield. CPL Young was responsible for the maintenance of all Sentinel Radar equipment in order to maintain 100% combat power during the operation. CPL Young demonstrated a high competency and technical know-how while servicing the radar to ensure minimum down time and maximum efficiency.
CPL Young served as the 94M Radar Repairer, while serving on an National Training Center rotation at Fort Irwin, California. While maintaining radar operations and repairs of all organic and non-organic radar equipment, CPL Young went above the call of duty and ensured the successful completion of a Brigade level mission, by ensuring the efficient and appropriate response to threats, as they appeared on the radar systems. CPL Young ensured that all hostile threats were effeciently nutralized and minimized casualties of friendlies.
CPL Young served as NCOIC for the night shift crew of Combine Post Exercise 3-21 and tactically operated all Air Defense Artillery assets as a Battle Space Work Station operator, allowing for the engagement and destruction of 42+ Russian Hind Helicopters. CPL Young went above his station to ensure a successful joint operation, encompassing all of XVIII Airborne Corps, with minimum ADA asset loss and maximum efficiency with evasive maneuvers.
CPL Young has served as Team Leader for the Sentinel section and has mentored and led soldiers with outstanding knowledge and presence. CPL Young ensures his team is well versed in all topics including Exciter/Reciever testing and replacement. CPL Young's tireless work ethic, knowledge, guidance and attention to detail contributed greatly to the overall success of the DIVARTY mission that followed and fostered an environment of mission and equipment readiness.
Radar Repairer
Outstanding achievement while serving as Team Leader, 1st Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery, from XXXXXXXX to XXXXXXXX. While assigned as a Forward Area Alerting Radar Team Leader as a member of the Air Defense section attached to Task Force Regulars during Operation Just Cause, Sergeant Maxwell played a vital role in the success of the mission. When a PDF attack disabled the generator powering the Forward Area Alerting Radar system, Sergeant Maxwell took immediate action. While under Red conditions, he recovered and moved a wounded member of his Radar team to cover and then conducted field expedient repairs and reactivated their Radar. This provided 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry and the other units of Task Force Bayonet with temporary low level Radar coverage for 12 hours until the generator and radar system were fully repaired. Sergeant Maxwell's actions reflect great credit upon himself, the 55th Air Defense Artillery and the United States Army.
Radar Repair Technician
PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS COMBAT RADAR REPAIR TECHNICIAN ABOARD USS GRAVELY (DDG 107) FROM JUNE 2015 TO APRIL 2017. DEMONSTRATING OUTSTANDING TECHNICAL SKILL, PETTY OFFICER PETER COX MAINTAINED THE GRAVELY'S AN/SPY-1D(V) RADAR SYSTEM IN CONTINUOUS MISSION AND MATERIAL READINESS. HE COMPLETED SIX HUNDRED AND FOURTY HOURS OF CORRECTIVE AND PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE, INCLUDING THE URGENT REPAIR OF SIX CATEGORY TWO CASREPS. DISPLAYING TRUE TEAM SPIRIT, PETTY OFFICER COX SELFLESSLY VOLUNTEERED TO SUPPORT USS ROSS (DDG 71) DURING THEIR TRANS-ATLANTIC VOYAGE TO THE SIXTH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS IN SUPPORT OF ANTI-BALLISTIC MISSILE DEFENSE EXERCISES. PETTY OFFICER COX'S EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM, UNRELENTING PERSEVERANCE AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
Radar Repairman
Outstanding achievement while serving as Radar Repairman, Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC), Volk Field, Wisconsin from XXXXXXXX to XXXXXXXX. During this period, Sergeant Samuel P. Johnson demonstrated a high degree of professionalism while serving as lead technician for the GPN-20 and TPX-42 Air Traffic Systems. After a base wide power outage crippled the GPN-20 transmitters, forcing Volk Field's Air Traffic Control Operations to shut down, Sergeant Johnson responded immediately. He spent the next two weeks troubleshooting and repairing ten different damaged components. This outage happened just before the Christmas holidays but he insisted on working through the holiday weekends until the problem was resolved. In addition to his RADAR duties, Sergeant Johnson is also Volk Field's Installation Spectrum Manager. This complex additional duty includes the management, distribution, and maintenance of more than 140 Radio Frequency Assignments that support Volk Field CRTC and the 128th Air Control Squadron. Sergeant Johnson's performance during this time period brings great credit upon himself, Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center, the Wisconsin Army National Guard and the United States Army.
