Sergeant Kelly served with distinction as the Battalion Safety NCO and was instrumental in the success of the Army Safety Program as outlined in AR 385-10. He established a Battalion Safety Program, which facilitated, for the first time, the ability to track injury, death, and loss of equipment. He assisted every element in creating practical reporting and recording procedures and appointed Soldiers from each company as designated Safety Officers. He developed and implemented a system to record inspections of the installation to maintain one hundred percent accountability of equipment, storage, and action items. He provided technical expertise in making recommendations for correcting deficiencies, identifying and preventing hazards, and investigation procedures. He prepared accident statistical data from charts, tables, and reports, and analyzed accident trends to identify accident causes and develop countermeasures. He incorporated Composite Risk Management into all operations and held regular safety briefings and conducted safety training emphasizing accident prevention and proper storage and handling. He ensured objectives were consistent with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Fire Protection Association, (NFPA), Department of Defense, Department of Army, Installation Management Command (IMCOM); and Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) requirements.

AS SAFETY PETTY OFFICER AND ZONE INSPECTION COORDINATOR, PETTY OFFICER POZZI DEMONSTRATED EXCEPTIONAL INNOVATION AND MANAGERIAL SKILLS BY CREATING, IMPLEMENTING, AND COORDINATING A VERY EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT DIVISIONAL ZONE INSPECTION PROGRAM. SINCE THE PROGRAM'S INCEPTION, 45 SAFETY, PRESERVATION, AND MATERIAL DEFICIENCIES WERE IDENTIFIED AND CORRECTED, RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT IN SAFETY, EQUIPMENT OPERATIONAL READINESS, AND OVERALL MATERIAL CONDITION OF THE NUCLEAR SUPPORT FACILITY (NSF). ADDITIONALLY, HIS RELENTLESS WORK ETHIC AND DEVOTED EFFORTS CONTRIBUTED SUBSTANTIALLY TO THE EXPEDITIONARY TEAM’S ABILITY TO COMPLETE OVER 100 PREVENTIVE AND CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE ITEMS WITHIN A THREE MONTH PERIOD, ENSURING THE NSF WAS MAINTAINED IN THE HIGHEST STATE OF READINESS. PETTY OFFICER POZZI'S EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM, INITIATIVE, AND SELFLESS DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




Technical Sergeant Wayne R. Sullivan distinguished himself by meritorious service as Safety Program manager, 455th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, 455th Expeditionary Mission Support Group, 455th Expeditionary Wing, Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan from XXXXXXXXX to XXXXXXXXXX. During this period, Sergeant Sullivan ensured compliance with state, federal, and Air Force regulations, regularly surveying 13 industrial shops and implementing safety protocols for more than 300 Department of Defense employees. Additionally, he performed a variety of environmental health risk assessments and was a major contributor to the establishment of installation water and confined space programs. He evaluated and validated safe procedures for Confined Space Master Entry Plans and ensured sufficient surveillance was in place to protect all installation personnel. Further, he coordinated with engineers in the analysis of 20 water distribution system modifications, ensuring potable water safety and avoiding 300 thousand dollars in water purchases. Finally, Sergeant Sullivan deployed for 120 days in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, providing flawless security oversight of 20 third country nationals and protecting 22 construction sites. The distinctive accomplishments of Technical Sergeant Sullivan reflect credit upon himself, the 455th Expeditionary Wing, and the United States Air Force.

DISPLAYING EXCEPTIONAL MOTIVATION, VISION, AND DETERMINATION, SHE DEVELOPED THE FIRST EVER "SAFETYATHON" COMPETITION, ESTABLISHING A NEW STANDARD FOR LABORATORY BASED SAFETY STAND-DOWNS. PETTY OFFICER DUKE CREATED AN ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION DECISION MATRIX THAT WAS ADOPTED BY THE NAVY SAFTEY CENTER. IN ADDITION, SHE IMPROVED THE ALSS BRANCH READY-FOR-ISSUE RATE FOR AIR-SAVE VESTS FROM TEN PERCENT TO 100 PERCENT IN LESS THAN SIX MONTHS, DIRECTLY FACILITATING GLOBAL DEPLOYMENT. AS A LIAISON OFFICER, SHE HELPED DEVELOP NEW AND MORE EFFICIENT FIFTH FLEET AOR TACTICS AND WAS A KEY FACTOR IN THE SQUADRON'S NINETY-SIX PERCENT MISSION COMPLETION RATE. FINALLY, DURING HER TENURE, PETTY OFFICER KERN FLEW EIGHTY-EIGHT SURVEILLANCE MISSIONS IN SUPPORT OF OIF AND OEF. PETTY OFFICER KERN'S EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM, INITIATIVE, AND SELFLESS DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HERSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




Captain Douglas M. Green distinguished himself by meritorious service while serving as Staff Logistics Officer, 759th Logistics Readiness Flight, 459th Mission Support Group, 459th Air Refueling Wing, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland from XXXXXXXXXX to XXXXXXXXXX. During this period, Captain Green's decisive leadership proved invaluable to 759th Logistics Readiness Flight's operations. He skillfully reengineered the 759th Logistics Readiness Flight's Safety program to make it more inclusive, expansive, and effective. Captain Green single handedly established a safety training curriculum and a job safety lesson plan, mitigating risk, and ensuring flight personnel remained current on mandatory safety training requirements. As a result, his flight's reinvigorated safety program garnered praise from Wing leadership during the 2011 Unit Compliance Inspection. Additionally, Captain Green coordinated critical logistical support to obtain a new facility for the members of the 759th Logistics Readiness Flight. His detailed coordination and execution was instrumental in establishing communication, computer, and facility management support for flight personnel and ensured the 759th Logistics Readiness Flight remained operational during and after the transition period. The distinctive accomplishments of Captain Green reflect great credit upon himself, the 759th Logistics Readiness Flight and the United States Air Force.
