Purpose of Counseling
Discuss PV2 Caldwell's duty performance for the month of Jan 2012.
Key Points of Discussion
Your room/billets area must be in a high state of readiness at all times. You should be prepared for an unannounced inspection whenever a report of unhealthy living conditions is received. Otherwise, a minimum of 24 hours advance notice will be given to you for all room inspections. This is the same speech I give to every Soldier that in-processes the Platoon.
Your room was not only not ready for inspection but was trashed to the point that it was selected as an example of the worst room out of over 200 rooms. This state of disorganization and disregard for standards will not be tolerated. I verbally informed you on the barracks requirements and showed you the written OI. Yet, even after several GI parties brought on by the living conditions in the barracks, and the resulting increased awareness of standards, you still failed to maintain a clean and orderly room.
As per the CSM, there will be a barracks inspection every day except Sunday until further notice. I am very disappointed with your actions but with time and effort on your part you have an excellent chance of improving your performance. The weekly barracks GI party will continue until standards have been met and maintained.
Plan of Action
o PVT Caldwell and I will review the Barracks Standards OI together to ensure PVT Caldwell understands the requirements.
o After work today, PVT Caldwell and I will go to the barracks and clean his room until it is inspection ready.
o If PVT Caldwell's room does not meet standards or fails inspection again, more serious consequences will follow.
Leader Responsibilities
o I will participate in the random inspection of PV2 Caldwell's room and assist as required. If his room fails to meet standards again, I will consult the First Sergeant for appropriate action.
