Squad Leader, Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE)
Serves as an Squad Leader for the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE), Directorate of Training Sustainment (DOTS) Ammunition Branch supporting the operations of two Infantry Brigades, two Cavalry Brigades, one Airborne Range Brigade, two Directorates and tenant units, with ammunition; responsible for coordinating daily requirements and accountability for ammunition in appointed storage sites in accordance with applicable regulation and policies; provides daily delivery schedules for confirmation to training events furnished by the ammunition managers; responsible for the training, mentorship and safety of three soldiers.




89B Ammo Logistics Sergeant
Responsible for the morale, welfare, and professional development of 11 Soldiers and NCOs; provides technical guidance to the Soldiers and NOCs in the accomplishment of their duties; prepares/reviews ammunition storage waivers; prepares complex ammunition malfunction reports; ensures ammunition quality assurance /control procedures are followed in accordance with all regulations and SOPs; responsible for the management of ammunition and explosives, and with receiving, storing, and issuing of conventional ammunition, guided missiles, large rockets, bulk explosives, and other Class V related items.


89B Ammunitions Logistician NCO
Ammunitions Logistician NCO for the 3d Division Sustainment Brigade (3DSB) and principal advisor to the Support Operations Officer, Sustainment Brigade Ammunition Warrant, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team; 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team; 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade; 3rd ID Artillery and tenant units on ammunition operations; provides cross-level authorizations and forecasts within the subordinate units as required to support unit training; creates and maintain subordinate TAMIS user accounts for personnel that are trained and certified; oversees Field Level Munitions Storage Area (FLMSA) operations; monitors 89 series Soldiers at the Brigade MATP and recommends actions to maintain support capabilities; responsible for the care and leadership of____ Non Commissioned Officers and ____ Soldiers.


89B Chief Ammunition NCO
Chief Ammunition NCO for the 3d Division Sustainment Brigade (3DSB); provides technical assistance and mentorship on accountability, maintenance, quality assurance of CL V for contingency and training operations; maintains DA Form 1687s, Assumption of Command Orders, DD Form 2875s for each unit requesting or approving ammunition requests; receives annual training ammunition authorizations from higher headquarters TAMIS manager and redistributes these authorizations to subordinate TAMIS accounts; NCOIC of the Field Level Munitions Storage Area (FLMSA) and manages the Sergeant of Guard roster; mentors all junior 89 series Soldiers; recommends actions to maintain ammunition support capabilities; responsible for the care and leadership of____ Non Commissioned Officers and ____ Soldiers.


Ammunition Logistics Sergeant/89B40/Skill lvl 4
Assigned as the Ammunition Logistics Sergeant for the 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command (3ESC); closely coordinates and synchronizes with the XVIII Airborne Corps to establish efficient combat ammunition processes; provides technical assistance and mentorship on accountability, maintenance, quality assurance of CL V for contingency and training operations to the HHC 3rd ESC, and two Battalions; manages $3,000,000 of training ammunition; responsible for the care and leadership of two Non Commissioned Officers and one Soldier; responsible for $750,000 of assigned unit property.


Ammunition Sergeant for Alpha Distribution Company
Serves as the Ammunition Sergeant for Alpha Distribution Company, the XXXth Brigade Support Battalion, in support of 3d Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division; responsible for the health, welfare, training and mentorship of eight Soldiers; responsible for the accountability and maintenance of five M1120A4 HEMTT Load Handling Systems, one M1075 Palletized Load System and six M1101 Cargo Trailers, valued in excess over $500,000.


Section Chief for Special Forces Support Battalion
Serves as the Section Chief for Special Forces Support Battalion which provides ammunition and mission support to the Group; responsible for the safety, serviceability, maintenance, and security of all munitions' assets; prepares and reviews ammunition storage waivers while implementing ammunition quality assurance and quality control procedures; responsible for the training, health, welfare of two Soldiers and three Non-Commissioned Officers and provides technical guidance in the accomplishment of their duties; accountable for Mission Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) valued in excess of $1.5 million.


89B Senior Ammunition Inspector
Supervises the receipt, storage, issue, and preparation of ammunition, ammunition components and explosives for transportation and storage; supervises ammunition stock control and acconting procedures for surveillance inputs, conducts ammunition inspections and tests, performs inspections of containers and vehicles transporting ammunition; inspects storage locations, ensuring compliance with storage compatability, quantity distance, and explosive safety limits; additionally ensures compliance with all ammunition safety requirements as prescribed in applicable Army Regulations.

Logistical Ammunition NCO
Served as the Ammunitions Logistician NCO for the Brigade and principal advisor to the Support Operations Officer and Brigade Ammunition Officer on ammunition, vehicles, arms rooms, and range inspections; monitored six 89B Soldiers at the Brigade ATHP and recommended actions to maintain support capabilities; SAAS-MOD system administrator in charge of record keeping and reports to include the Theater Munitions Report (MUREP) and the accuracy for the Brigades ABL and Training Ammunition valued at $22,000,000; Class V Battle Command Sustainment Support System (BCS3) operator


89B Ammunition Specialist
Assists in the reciept, storage, issue, maintenance, modification, destruction and demilitarization of explosive items; performs ammunition supply stock control and accounting duties using automated procedures; assists in the preparation of transportion of ammunition components and explosives. Supervises lower grade Soldiers and provides technical guidance to the Soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties.


89B Ammunition Inspector
Ammunition Inspector, responsible for the safety, serviceability, maintenance, and security of all munitions assets; evaluator for the brigades use of munitions storage procedures; inspects ABL and AHA's, ensures units follow regulations and safety procedures; observes and assists in investigations on munitions malfunctions, coordinates with EOD teams, maintains and monitors records of munitions inspections, suspension notices, packaging and storing; uses load drawings to monitor and ensure proper and safe laoding relative to munitions movement.






MOS 89B, Ammunition Specialist

MOS 89B was known as 55B before fiscal year 2005.

Major Duties: The ammunition specialist receives, stores and issues conventional ammunition, guided missiles, large rockets and other ammunition related items; performs maintenance (unit, direct support and general support) modification, destruction and demilitarization on ammunition and explosive components; and operates computer hardware and software/utilities manual records to perform stock control and accounting procedures. Duties for MOS 89B at each level of skill are:


Skill Levels

Skill Level 1 MOSC 89B10. Assists in receipt, storage, issue, maintenance, modification, destruction and demilitarization of explosive items. Performs ammunition supply stock control and accounting duties using both automated and manual procedures. Operates MHE to maneuver ammunition.

Skill Level 2 MOSC 89B20. Performs duties in preceding skill level, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Assists in the preparation of transportation of ammunition, ammunition components and explosives.

Skill Level 3 MOSC 89B30. Performs duties in the preceding skill levels, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Prepares/reviews ammunition storage waivers. Prepares complex ammunition malfunction reports. Ensures ammunition quality assurance/quality control procedures are followed.

Skill Level 4 MOSC 89B40. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Interprets technical data and instructs subordinates in the technical aspects of ammunition, missile and other explosive items receipt, storage, maintenance and supply. Technical advisor on ammunition surveillance and safety matters.

Skill Level 5 MOSC 89B50. Performs duties in preceding skill levels, supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties. Supervises and manages the SAAS-MOD at theater, theater Army, area command, and Corps Materiel Management Centers (CMMC). Assists in the survey and layout of areas allocated for the establishment of ammunition storage areas. Plans requirements for labor, equipment and supplies in preparation and application of plans, work policies and procedures.

Physical demands rating and qualifications for initial award of MOS. The ammunition specialist must possess the following qualifications:

(1) Physical Demands Rating: very heavy
(2) Physical Profile: 222221
(3) Normal color vision.
(4) Minimum score of 100 in aptitude area ST.
(5) A security clearance of CONFIDENTIAL.
(6) Formal training (completion of MOS 89B course conducted under the auspices of the USAOMMCS, to include Phase II MOS training for RC personnel) is mandatory.
(7) Non-allergic to explosive components.
(8) Non-claustrophobic tendencies.
(9) A U.S. citizen.
