Power Distribution NCO
Serves as Power Distribution NCO for the 629th Network Support Company; supervises the installation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems consisting of utility poles, power lines, guys, anchors, crossarms, conductors, insulators and other hardware; provides tactical power for all deployed operations; maintains, fuels, and operates generators; connects and disconnects service drops and conduits on energized systems; maintains records of power distribution infrastructure; responsible for the welfare, accountability, and training of 7 Soldiers.
Power Distribution Specialist
Serves as a power distribution specialist assigned to the 27th Engineer Bn in support of XVIII Corps; assists civilian authorities with restoring power after natural disasters and outages; installs generators to restore power to critical facilities; maintains Critical Power Panels, SSUPS generators, and switch gear cabinets; surveys and installs new power lines and transformers to provide or restore electricity; assists in installation of electrical prime power distribution systems, exterior services and utility poles; connects service drops and conduits on de-energized systems.
MOS 12Q Powerline Distribution Specialist (Reserve Components)
Major Duties. The powerline distribution specialist supervises or installs and maintains electrical distribution systems; performs duties as a member of a transmission and distribution team. Duties for MOS 12Q at each level of skill are:
MOSC 12Q10. Assists in installation of electrical transmission and distribution systems and exterior services; assists in the erection of utility poles; installs guys, anchors, crossarms, conductors, insulators, and other hardware; installs and connects service drops and conduits on de-energized systems.
MOSC 12Q20. Installs and maintains electrical transmission and distribution systems; tests circuits and components to isolate malfunctions and repair defects; performs scheduled and emergency inspection and repair of distribution systems and equipment; assists in maintenance, repair, calibration, and testing of internal substation equipment.
MOSC 12Q30. Supervises installation of underground and overhead electrical distribution systems; supervises staging of material and construction and maintenance equipment; maintains and uses special purpose safety equipment and tools employed for electrical construction and maintenance; ensures proper safety and clearance procedures are followed.
MOSC 12Q40. Plans and supervises construction and maintenance of electrical transmission and distribution systems; estimates manpower, equipment, and material requirements for electrical construction; advises on electrical construction and maintenance procedures and capabilities.
