Geospatial Engineer
Manages the Geospatial Database for the Theater Engineer Brigade in a complex operational environment; collects, analyzes and interprets imagery, reconnaissance, digital data and existing topographic products and evaluates source materials for military geographic analysis to provide tactical decision aids to staff, planners and commanders; responsible for the training, welfare, morale, professional development and quality of life of personnel assigned to the S2 section; ensures required administrative, intelligence, source data and reference files are maintained.
12Y20 Geospatial Engineer Sergeant (deployed)
Serves as the Geospatial Engineer Sergeant and Request for Information Manager for the Theater Engineer Brigade Geospatial Team; leads, trains, and mentors a team of geospatial analysts in the production of geospatial data, ensuring high standards of accuracy and reliability ISO military operations; oversees the daily production and dissemination of critical terrain and geospatial intelligence products; creates topographic maps; performs route analysis; builds 3D terrain models utilizing advanced GIS and remote sensing that support strategic and operational missions for the Theater Engineer Brigade and task forces engaged in Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield in support of USARCENT and USCENTCOM.
Senior Geospatial Engineer Sergeant
Serves as the Senior Geospatial Engineer Sergeant for the Civil Information Management Cell (CIM); responsible for the health, welfare and morale of one Soldier; oversees and manages topographic analysis support for two Brigades; coordinates and validates data collection requirements; supervises quality control processes for topographic production; advises command and staff officers on all aspects of topographic operations; coordinates the planning and creation of military geographic information and products; facilitates activities pertaining to the training on Geographic Information Systems to the CACOM.
12Y20 MEB HHC
Plans, collects, evaluates, and supervises the production of geospatial products; provides detailed geospatial analysis products for the Maneuver Enhancement Brigade and subordinate elements; responsible for the maintenance and accountability of geospatial equipment. Facilitates activities pertaining to training on Digital Geographic Information Systems and staff processes with geospatial products. Maintains proficiency in DGIS systems and supervises maintenance of required equipment and systems within the section.
Production Squad Leader
Serves as a Squad Leader for the 5th Geospatial Planning Cell; responsible for the training, welfare, morale, professional development, quality of life and combat readiness of Soldiers; plans, collects, evaluates, and supervises the production of geospatial products; provides detailed geospatial analysis products throughout the United States Army Pacific Command Theater of operations in support of the (intelligence preparation of battle field); responsible for the maintenance and accountability of geospatial equipment.
Data Extraction Squad Leader
Serves as a Squad Leader for the 5th Geospatial Planning Cell; responsible for the training, welfare, morale, professional development, quality of life and combat readiness of Soldiers; collects, evaluates, analyzes, and supervises the extraction of geographic data from collateral data sources such as satellite imagery, aerial photography, and digital data throughout the United States Army Pacific Command Theater of operations; responsible for the maintenance and accountability of geospatial equipment.
Squad Leader, Data Generation Squad
Serves as the Squad Leader for the Data Generation Squad, responsible for METL task training, professional development, welfare, morale, quality of life, and discipline of four Soldiers; supervises and manages geospatial information databases that produce tactical decision aids; analyzes the effects of weather on terrain as applied to command, control, communication, computer, and intelligence systems; manages the generation of data for imagery, maps, databases, and collateral source material; responsible for maintenance and accountability of property valued at over $250,000.
Senior Geospatial Engineer
Serves as the Senior Geospatial Engineer for a deployable Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT); responsible for the health, welfare and morale of two Soldiers; oversees and manages topographic analysis support for six separate Battalions and the Brigade Headquarters; coordinates and validates data collection requirements; supervises quality control processes for topographic production; advises command and staff officers on all aspects of topographic operations; coordinates the planning and creation of military geographic information and products; facilitates activities pertaining to the training on Digital Geographic Information Systems to the SBCT.
12Y Geospatial Engineer in a Group Assignment
Serves as the Geospatial Engineer Sergeant for 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) Section: responsible for the daily production of terrain and geospatial products supporting Group battalions and Special Operations Task Forces (SOTF) deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), United States Central Command (CENTCOM) and 3rd SFG Area of Resposibility (AOR). Support Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan (CJSOTF-A) with GEOINT products and data.
MOS 12Y Geospatial Engineer, CMF 12 (Effective 202210)
Major duties. Geospatial engineers manage the enterprise geospatial database compiled from all sources including National Geospatial Agency, Topographical Engineering Center, other services, and coalition allies; exploits new collection and production from deployed Soldiers and sensors; manages the geospatial foundation of the Common Operational Picture (COP); synchronizes hard and soft copy products and supports All Source Intelligence; processes and compiles geospatial data into printable maps or products; prints maps, overlays, and special products with geospatial information. Duties for MOS 12Y at each level of skill are:
MOSC 12Y10. Extracts geospatial data from remote sensed imagery, field reconnaissance, digital data, existing topographic products, and other collateral data sources; records analysis results in a military graphic database; draws, scribes, digitizes and scans cultural, topographic, hydrographic, and/or other features on overlay/scribing surfaces or in digital formats; utilizes basic drafting techniques to tailor terrain products and revises planimetric and topographic maps; performs digital manipulation of topographic information by querying, viewing, evaluating, and downloading digital data; compiles geospatial data into printable maps or products; prints maps, overlays, and special products with geospatial information.
MOSC 12Y20. Performs duties in the preceding skill level; supervises lower grade Soldiers and provides technical guidance to Soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties; analyzes collected military geographic information to produce tactical decision aids; predicts terrain and weather effects as applied to command, control, communication, computer and intelligence systems; performs database management for the storage of aerial photographs, maps, digital databases, and collateral source materials; performs quality assurance during all stages of topographic operations to include compilation of geospatial data into printable maps or products and printing of hardcopy geospatial information.
MOSC 12Y30. Performs duties of preceding skill level, supervises lower grade Soldiers and provides technical guidance to Soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties; supervises topographic analysts at division, Corps and EAC topographic units to include maintenance of assigned equipment; evaluates source materials for military geographic information analysis; supervises quality assurance during all stages of topographic operations to include finish compilation of geospatial data into printable map/products and printing of hardcopy geospatial information; maintains required administrative, intelligence, source data and reference files; advises command and staff officers on all aspects of topographic operations and doctrine.
MOSC 12Y40. Performs duties of preceding skill level, supervises lower grade Soldiers and provides technical guidance to Soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties; supervises topographic analysis activities at all levels; coordinates and validates collection requirements; plans and coordinates activities pertaining to the organization, training and the tactical and technical operation of the assigned unit; directs preparation for movement and operation of mobile/transportable work sections; advises command and staff officers on all aspects of topographic operations and doctrine; coordinates the planning and production of military geographic information.
MOSC 12Y50. Assists in geospatial planning and control activities; assists in determining requirements and providing technical supervision of topographic mapping and other military geographic intelligence programs, to include geodetic and topographic surveying activities; assists in command supervision and coordination of map reproduction and topographic map supply programs; provides staff supervision and principal noncommissioned officer direction to units engaged in performing topographic engineering missions.
