My name is SGT Colton Babb. I am requesting release from the North Carolina National Guard to join the Active Duty Army. I have 10 years combined Time In Service with the WIARNG and the NCARNG, with over three years of activation. I am currently an 11B, formerly 91B, on my second enlistment as of March 2023.
I enlisted under an 18X contract in efforts to earn my green beret through the National Guard and to later transfer to active duty to be more involved. After 18 months of rigorous training, I was dropped due to numerous training injuries ultimately leading to my withdrawal from the pipeline never to return.
I enlisted as an 18X to serve the state of North Carolina and the United States of America at one of the highest levels with the burning desire and need to serve my country at the highest of my potential. During my activated time in training and deployments, I was the most content I've ever been in life, reinforcing the fact that active-duty Army is where I belong and the career I need to pursue to best fulfill my drive to serve my country at the highest caliber.
I have worked numerous civilian jobs, attended some college, and started my own construction business. I am not fulfilled in any form of civilian employment as I feel I am wasting my youthful years lacking purpose and responsibility while not wearing the uniform. Beyond any reasonable doubt in my mind, a career in the Active Duty Army is the structure, purpose, responsibility, and job that I am meant for, that will rid the lack of purpose and emotional hardship I face every day while not serving my country at the highest potential that I can.
Very Respectfully,
SGT Colton Babb
